Kia ora, Georgia, could you please share the story of Nook Grocer and how it all began?
We get to live in paradise here in the Coromandel- amongst lush bush & pristine beaches. So, our mission was to create a space that encouraged & enabled our community to live more conscientiously. We have a range of bulk bins to offer package-free shopping, a non-toxic cleaning refill station, and a curation of beautiful products from businesses who share a similar ethos. Plus a coffee shop attached to sip whilst you shop. We focus on Aotearoa-made, sustainable, and ethically-made products. We try our best to operate as gently on our planet as possible, which of course means forever learning and growing ourselves
Community is important to us here at Kōkako. What do you love most about your local community?
There is so much love and support that ripples through our community. The best thing about running Nook has been meeting like-minded people and having the best of conversations!
We're so stoked to have you part of our flock. What made you decide to serve Kōkako Coffee?
We love Kōkako! Partnering with them was a no-brainer. We love their commitment to the environment and to FairTrade practices. We're proud to work with a business so passionate and that continues to operate with such integrity.
What's your advice for someone trying to live more sustainably?
Small changes, easy swaps, and kindness to yourself and others! It's so easy to feel overwhelmed, but it's more effective to start small and do it consistently than end up feeling defeated. There's no such thing as perfection, but the little changes you make may inspire others too and that's what adds up to make a big impact.
What does Sustainability look like in your day-to-day life?
Just taking a moment. We're all busy, but if we can step back for just a second. "Do I really need this?" "What happens with this once I'm done with it?" "What is this made from?" "What business am I supporting by buying this?"
Lastly, can you please tell our readers where to find you?
